For a long time now I have thought about writing my own book, something from the deep, dark recesses of my creativity. All those crazy ideas and potential characters running around in my head, creating their own stories and worlds.
I have always been a fan of writers such as Stephen King, J.R.R Tolkien & J.K Rowling, their ability to create a fully immersive world and characters that have us all going back time and time again.
It was time for me to share some of my stories and characters with other people.
So where do you begin?
This was the main question that was stopping me from pursuing a dream that I have had for years, it was time to bite the bullet and just get writing. A large amount of my day would be spent commuting to work, this to me seemed like wasted time, the perfect time to get this book rolling.
In this modern age the phone is a key element to everyone’s life, for better or worse, but this was the perfect medium for me to start writing on.
The first step for me was to corral all those characters running around in my mind and place them all together in a shared world. This was a little tough at first as the amount of characters and story ideas I have in my head was hard to pin down, however with a little hard work and determination things started to come together.
With all the characters and story arcs jotted down it was time to start writing, on with Chapter One.
The satisfaction of finally beginning my story, finally putting pen to paper and creating a world to share with others was invigorating, so satisfying and addictive. Chapter one became two, then three.
This journey and story that I started around a year ago is nearly at is logical conclusion, however this doesn’t mean the end, it is only the beginning, this is when the fun really starts and I get to share the story with you.
Writing has turned out to me so much more that just putting ideas down and creating a story, it has provided me with a way to de-stress, vent issues and ultimately relax in a world that is so fast paced and difficult at times to catch a breath.
I will talk more about this next time
